Coordinator of Communication & Special Events - ICADV

The Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence is seeking a full-time Coordinator of Communications & Special Events to support the Coalition’s mission to work for the prevention and elimination of domestic violence. ICADV understands that strategic communication is a critical strategy for advancing our work toward equity, economic justice and social justice goals.

The position is responsible for leading and managing strategic communications, public relations, and relationships with member and partner organizations, as well as supporting the development team in the planning and implementation of special events for the organization.

The position requires a degree in a related field. The ideal candidate must be an excellent writer, with experience in targeted community messaging; technology, news, and social media; detail oriented, and have the ability to work under tight deadlines. We seek a candidate proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint); Adobe (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator); and HTML. Experience with branding consistency across all communications materials and strategic communications planning is required; and experience organizing and messaging special events for an organization is a must.

The salary range is up to $55,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Primary Job Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

Satellite Victim Advocate - Beacon of Hope Crisis Center

If you have experience working with victims and are looking for an opportunity help people impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault, this position may interest you. The Satellite Victim Advocate (SVA) is responsible for providing supportive services including emotional support, crisis intervention, information, and appropriate case management services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, primarily in the hospital setting. The SVA serves as an informed source of support to victims during immediate crises and works closely with various community organizations and legal services to successfully support victims and Beacon of Hope Crisis Center programs. Survivor Services Advocate - The Julian Center

Job Description:            Survivor Services Advocate

Reports to:                       Survivor Services Advocacy Manager

Position Summary

The Survivor Services Advocate is responsible for providing collaborative support in the form of assessments, referrals and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking, in accordance to best practices for Rape Crisis Center designees. As a member of the advocacy team, they will co-lead house meetings, ensure that community resources are up-to-date, and assist in care coordination of survivors. In addition, all advocates participate in community education and outreach efforts.

This is a grant funded position.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in therapeutic engagement with survivors
  • Provide collaborative advocacy services address immediate and enhance long-term safety (i.e. Protective Orders, safety planning, necessary referrals)
  • Collaborate with individual survivors to help them create a Personal Growth Plan with measurable and achievable goals for self-sufficiency/life mastery, stability and quality of life
  • Create and maintain survivor records to ensure data quality, including needs assessment, personal growth plan, routine progress notation, collateral information and records, correspondence, etc. in a timely manner
  • Coordinate referrals within Julian Center and to external resources as needed
  • Promote survivor-centered and strength-based approach
  • Participate in supervision, team meetings, all-staff meetings, in-service trainings and staff development projects
  • Assist with facilitation of and attend community outreach and education events, community meetings and trainings, as requested
  • Maintain grant compliance through data entry and report preparation
  • Serve on a 24-hour on-call schedule on a rotating basis with advocate team, including responding to hospitals when called by Centers of Hope to serve survivors
  • Co-lead house meetings
  • Assist in training and onboarding of interns and advocates, as requested
  • Other duties as assigned

YES Assistant - The Julian Center

Position Title:                   YES Assistant – Respite Childcare (Part-time)

Status:                                Hourly/Non-Exempt

Reports to:                        Survivor Services Advocacy Manager

Position Summary:

The YES Assistant-Respite Childcare provider is responsible for the supervision of at-risk children who are residing in shelter due to domestic violence in their homes.  The children participating in respite care range in age from infancy to 17 years old.  All of the children involved in Respite Care are at risk or have been abused or neglected.  Many of these children display serious emotional, mental, or behavioral problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide care and supervise children during youth and respite activities
  • Facilitates appropriate activities for children participating in the children’s program
  • Enroll and complete intake assessments for parents and children entering into youth programming. Maintain and log records of attendance and complete benchmark assessments on at least a quarterly basis
  • Facilitate mediation of conflict between children, using non-violent methods; De-escalate conflict between children and with parents if necessary
  • Ensure the safety of all children in programming; Report any suspected abuse or neglect to the Youth Program Manager and the Department of Children’s Services Abuse Hotline
  • Supervise volunteers working with children
  • Participate in weekly individual supervision, bi-weekly youth program team meetings, and as directed other organizational meetings or trainings

Required Qualifications:

  • One year of college, business, technical or specialized schooling/accredited apprentice training.
  • 1-3 years experience
  • Commitment to non-violent and cooperative working environment

Mobile Advocate - Prevail, Inc.

Prevail is seeking to fill a Mobile Advocate position responsible for intervention and prevention services for victims of crime, including domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include individual and group facilitation using a trauma-informed model.

The Case Manager (CM) works primarily with all clients (residents and non-residents) in building the support and structure needed to build safety, stability, and independence. Mental Health Therapist - Sheltering Wings (Danville, IN)

Roles & Responsibilities:
The Mental Health Therapist is responsible to ensure all residents are provided with therapeutic services. The Mental Health Therapist provides assessments for all families, and oversees development and continuation of portions of the
individual plans of action. The Mental Health Therapist is responsible for service coordination, continuation of assessments and planning, counseling including individual and group. The Mental Health Therapist works closely with the case managers, advocates and crisis intervention/shelter assistants to ensure all available mental health services that clients need is provided. The Mental Health Therapist completes all required documentation, and provides monthly report of services for reporting purposes.

Substitute Crisis Intervention Shelter Assistant - Sheltering Wings (Danville, IN)

Roles & Responsibilities:
The Crisis Intervention Shelter Assistants (CISA) oversee the day-to-day residential operations, including but not limited to crisis assessment and intervention, mediation, and provision of basic needs. Overall, the CISA’s role is to facilitate a safe, structured, and supportive Christ-like environment conducive to facilitating life changes with residents. CISAs are responsible to uphold both the vision and mission of Sheltering Wings.

Qualifications for the Position
Required:
1. Completed courses in social work, psychology, criminal justice or something similar. Or, 0-3 years’ experience
working in public or social service organization.
2. Full commitment and dedication to the mission statement of Sheltering Wings.
3. Full compliance with Sheltering Wings’ Statement of Faith, signed on application.
4. Excellent interpersonal skills and needs assessment.
5. Proven multi-tasking abilities.
6. Ability to thrive in an emotionally stressful environment while remaining calm.
7. Outstanding follow-up skills.
8. Prior experience in a position that needed attention to detail.

Preferred but not required:
1. Knowledge of domestic violence related issues and philosophy.
2. Understanding of the effects DV has on survivor’s thoughts and behaviors.
3. Prior Crisis Intervention experience.
4. Knowledge of city, state and federal domestic violence service systems, policies and issues.
5. Bilingual

Base Pay: $15.00/hr. ($1.50/hr. differential for weekend and 3rd shift hours)
